Thief River Falls has many parks, a river walking trail, camping (at L.B. Hartz Park), and several boat ramps and carry-in access points. Grocery stores, restaurants, other shopping opportunities, toilets, and drinking water are also available. You will need to portage around the hydroelectric dam between Boy Scout Park and L.B. Hartz Park, but a gentle grass slope on the left bank (if your facing downsteam) makes for an easy landing and a concrete sidewalk to the river below the dam makes portaging a snap. Fishing is good in Thief River Falls and many folks fish just downstream of the dam.
