Central Park in Crookston has boat ramp access, picnicking, camping, a playground, a skateboard park, and lots of open space for other activities. The park is host to several summer events including Ox Cart Days. Restrooms and drinking water are available, and there is a movie theater, library, and general stores within walking distance. This access point is upstream of the dam in Crookston, so it is advantageous to exit the river here. The dam downstream (about another river mile) is a difficult and dangerous portage. The dam will be removed and a rock riffle put in its place by spring 2004.
